Birds at Sydney Park – 11 September 2020

I spent an enjoyable afternoon with Digi Dave at Sydney Park. We decided to spend the afternoon indulging in some bird photography and I suggested a few venues. One was Sydney Park. Digi had never been there before, so that is where we went. One of my goals was to get better photos of the Lewin’s Rails that live there, and in this I succeeded.

There are lots of nice birds at the park, and here are some –

Reed Warblers

Plenty of Reed Warblers seem to be nesting at the Park at present. They provide good photographic opportunities.

Black Swans

Their cygnets are a favourite with many visitors.

Little Black Cormorant

Welcome Swallows

Lewin’s Rail

We spent a fair bit of time on the bridge between the island pond and the lower pond. This was where I had photographed on an earlier visit. But later, we heard one calling on the east side of the island pond. We went closer and waited. It popped out of the reeds a number of times. Very briefly – and we missed many photos. But I managed a few one time before it returned to cover.
