Blue Mountains Heritage Walk – 10 September 2020

Both Bob and myself had visited much of this area before in search of Aboriginal sites. We had completed a number of trips late last year, but it became too warm during Summer so we held off further trips.

On this occasion we visited some of the sites we had seen previously, and also found some more sites. The wildflowers were also great.

Our main aim was to find some art caves. One of the caves had some interesting charcoal drawings.

Bob also found what we think was a stone tool. The rock certainly seemed out of place.

One one of the trips last year, we had found a small cave with some art.

The art was hard to decipher. But in a separate cave about 20 metres away we found some hand stencils –

Another cave had about 10 hand stencils.

This single white stencil is hard to discern –

We also found sharpening grooves at different sites –

And for of the flowers –

It had been a very interesting day. The sites we saw were very special places.
