Cooks River and Barton Park Bike Ride – 26 August 2021

Day 61 of Lockdown. For exercise, I went on a bike ride down the Cooks River to Tempe and then to Barton Park. As usual, I took a camera.

On the way, I stopped off, just downstream of Illawarra Road, to photograph a Sacred Kingfisher.

Another short stop at Gough Whitlam Park to photograph a Royal Spoonbill.

I then continued to Barton Park. First stop was Landing Lights Wetland. Here are some of the Pied Stilts

Superb Fairy-wren –

Grey Fantail –

Here is one of pair of very noisy Masked Lapwings

Then up to the top area. Here is a Willie Wagtail

It dives down to grab an insect.

Another Willie Wagtail –

Yellow-rumped Thornbill –

A little Golden-headed Cisticola belted out is call.

On the ride home, I had a look at Tempe Reserve. Here is a Crested Pigeon

Here is a Little Egret at the Alexandria Canal –

More Egrets at the creek near Tempe Station. First a Great Egret

There was a Little Egret nearby –
