After the Greenway Bird Survey, I headed home for an early lunch, then cycled out to Barton Park for some more birds photography. With the lockdown limiting travel for exercise or recreation to 5 km from home, Barton Park has been one of the best places for bird watching and photography.
When I arrived, I first went down to the end of the Spring St Canal and looked into Muddy Creek to see if the Osprey was around. No sigh of it there, but when I headed back to the Landing Lights Wetland, I saw it perched on top of a sewer vent.
I watched it, waiting to see if it would take-off. I thought it would as a Magpie started harassing it.
It soon took off and then flew around for a bit and then headed down the canal.
I cycled down to Muddy Creek and saw it searching for fish.
It didn’t dive. It flew closer and passed overhead.
And then came too close to the nesting magpies.
A Great Egret flew past –
On the higher area, I heard, and then saw, this nice Tawny Grassbird –
Back down near the canal, I saw a Grey Goshawk flew past.
I later spotted it perched in a dead tree.
Back at the Wetlands. Here is a White-faced Heron –
And some photos of the Pied Stilts –
