Day 99 of Lockdown. I thought it was time for another walk down Wolli Creek – along the Two Valleys Track. I caught a bus to Bexley North and started walking down the track.
As usual I took camera with me, and along the way I found quite a few birds, orchids and other things to photograph.
Early on, at Illoura, I saw a number of Eastern Yellow Robins.
And here is a Silvereye –
And some Superb Fairy-wrens –
Further along in the forest I saw this White-browed Scrubwren.
And this Little Wattlebird –
At The Bray Avenue Wetlands, I saw another White-browed Scrubwren.
And a Pied Currawong at a nest.
A Willie Wagtail was singing –
Now at Girrahween Park, this Sulphur-crested Cockatoo had found a good hollow.
And this is a Raven at its nest –
At the old Swimming Pool, the orchids, Dendrobium linguiforme, that festoon the cliff above were in flower.
Next was a stop at the Grey-headed Flying Fox Camp.
Its about the right time for the flying foxes to have babies. This one was hanging the wrong way – perhaps it was giving birth?
It flipped into it usual inverted orientation. It looks like it may be licking something. Perhaps the baby?
This one may have a baby too –
I then went down to the lower track. In one spot, In a place I often find interesting fungi, I had noticed some holes that look like they may he Spotted Pardalote nests. This time I did see a Spotted Pardalote come down from the high canopy.
I then climbed Nanny Goat Hill, and had lunch on top. Here is a Copper Skink –
I went home via the Cooks River. The path was quite crowded with people out walking and cycling. I looked out for Kingfishers but didn’t see any. I did see this Striated Heron –
As well as people on the path, there were a lot of people out paddling –
Here is a Royal Spoonbill flying downstream.
And this Magpie Lark looks like it is collecting food to feed its young in a nest on the other side of the river.
