Day 100 of Lockdown. Digi Dave and myself had planned a boat trip along the Cooks River. He would travel by his Sea Kayak and I would use my packraft.
We had planned to meet at the new pontoon near the Lang Street Bridge. While waiting for Digi, I paddled up to the Boat Harbour and back. The tide was going down – and I found it much easier to paddle downstream.
The low tide for the day was around 1:40 pm and we hoped to use the rising tide to aid out paddle back up the river. It did help a bit, but we also had a head wind for some of the way.
The river was very pleasant for paddling. We soon reached the Wolli Creek junction and then paddled upstream. Travelling on the water gives a completely different perspective. I had a camera, but it was packed away in a waterproof bag for most of the time – reserved for any special birds. So I took very few photos.
On the way back down Wolli Ck, we pulled over and had lunch in a nice shady part of Waterworth Park.
And then it was the paddle back up the Cooks River.
Here are a few photos at the end when we reached the pontoon again.
It had been a nice day out. Thanks to Digi Dave for the company.
Just wondered if you’re a relative of Don Noble of Oatley, who is a relative of mine.
