Central Coast Wetland – 17 November 2021

It had been a long time since I had been able to visit the Central Coast Wetland at Wyong. I travelled up by train and spent a great day at the site.

Here are some of the birds I saw. First near the large main pond. A lot of the birds were far away – on the  far side or too far away for photos. I looked for any visitors but did not see any unusual birds. Here are some more common ones –

Australasian Darter

Black Swans

Pelicans

And some of the birds around the hinterland –

Sacred Kingfisher

Black-shouldered Kite

Dollarbird

Grey Butcherbird

Pied Butcherbird

Pacific Koel and Willie Wagtail

Tawny Grassbird

Satin Bowerbird

Australasian Figbird

Red-rumped Parrot

Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike

Willie Wagtail

Little Corella

The first area was relatively quiet. Here are some birds –

Striated Thornbill

Variegated Fairy-wren

I walked around the forest loop twice and on the second trip, I could see two raptors flying above the nearby farmland. I think they are an adult and a juvenile Whistling Kites.
