Malabar Headland – 20 June 2022

My last visit to the headland had been good – not so much for the whales as for the Peregrine Falcons. They had appeared late in the day and renewed their bonds. I was keen to go back and see them again. But this time – while I was there, I did not see them. So had to make do with some of the other resident birds and the passing whales.

At least the whales were a bit more active on this trip.

I did see one whale breach, leaping right out of the water, very close to the bay between Boora Point and Magic Point, but it only did it once, and I was not able to get any photos.

Here is part of a large flock of Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos that flew over –

Here is a Gannet hunting for fish –

More whales –

And, as I was walking back to Maroubra, I took a few photos of some New Holland Honeyeaters hunting for insects.

And more New Holland Honeyeaters

I had arrived at the headland around midday, and it had been a relaxing afternoon.
