Greenway Bird Survey – 23 July 2022

Here are some photos from the local Greenway Bird Survey – this time the Waratah Mills loop. It was nice to see some Musk Lorikeets amongst the usual Rainbow Lorikeets at the start of the survey near Waratah Mills Light Rail Station.

A little further, Michael, in the group saw some Spotted Pardalotes.

And here is one of the usual New Holland Honeyeaters

And we saw a flock of Silvereyes

And our first Brush Turkey

Red Wattlebirds are common on our surveys, but this is a Little Wattlebird

And one tree had about six Australasian Figbirds perched in it. Here is one –

Another Brush Turkey, this one perched in a tree –

In the Fred Street Bushcare site, some of the group had disturbed a Brown Goshawk. From further along, we could get better views –

And a new bird, for the survey, a Yellow Thornbill. We saw some at two locations along the survey route.

A White-faced Heron flew overhead.

And two of the birds we usually see –

And as usual, we finished with morning tea at a nearby Cafe. A nice way to start the weekend.
