Barton Park Birds – 26 July 2022

This was another excellent day of bird photography at Barton Park. This venue has been quite good recently with a wide range of birds on show. And on this visit I had good weather.

The main bird I sent time getting photos of this visit was the Osprey, but there was a god variety of other birds in the park. Here are some –

White-necked Heron

White-faced Heron

Osprey

The Osprey was perched on the mast of this boat for fair while in the morning. While waiting for it to  fly, I watched some other birds flying past.

Striated Heron

Brown Goshawk

Osprey

Royal Spoonbill

Osprey

Chestnut Teal

Little Pied Cormorant

Osprey

Quite a few other bird photographers were in the area including Daniele, Michael and Sharon.

The Osprey looked like it was getting ready to take off.

It perched in a nearby tree. But not for long. It was soon being harassed by a Magpie.

The Osprey then left the area. I had a look around for some other birds.

Grey Fantail

Brown Goshawk

Then I spotted that the Osprey was back, and it was diving for fish.

It missed out on a fish this dive. Now to shake off the water –

Then the osprey decided to hunt elsewhere. Back to some of the other birds.

Superb Fairy-wren

Little Black Cormorant

White-faced Heron

Red-browed Finch

Brown Honeyeater

This Willie Wagtail is hunting and grabs an insect –

White-faced Heron

There were very few birds at the Landing Lights Wetland. Perhaps because a raptor has been hunting in the area?

Swamp Harrier

This had been another very good session.
