I had never visited Oatley Park and I think Digi Dave had suggested it was a good place for a visit. So we headed there yesterday, with our cameras.
We spent a fairly relaxing day at the park and at nearby Lime Kiln Bay. A lot of the time was spent trying to get photos of the birdlife.
We did two short loop bush walks. The first was around the point at Oatley Park, and the second was a loop around Lime Kiln Bay, which can be reached from Oatley Park.
In Lime Kiln Bay there is a nice wetland area with quite a few large ponds. We talked to one of the workers doing bush regeneration for Hurstville Council and he told us about the track that runs around the far side of the bay. The track features several aboriginal caves (sandstone overhangs). Unfortunately they seem to have suffered a bit from graffiti.
This was a pleasant day out. Our route follows the red dots on this map –

Hiya,
Just wondering what camera you use, these are some really beautiful shots.
Thanks for sharing.
Sharon – I have a variety of cameras and lenses. These ones are taken with a Canon 5DIII with a 100 – 400 mm Canon lens. I use that system for bird photos. A lot of my multi-day bushwalking ones are taken with smaller Sony cameras (e.g. Nex7 in New Zealand, or an A7r). My NSW fungi photos are taken with a Sony A7r with a Canon 100 mm macro lens. Canyon photos lately have been taken with the A7r with a Sony-Zeiss 16-35 mm lens.
