Sassafras Gully Walk – 1 April 2015

I completed another walk to see how the fungi and slime moulds of Sassafras Gully were going. This time I started down Magdala Creek and returned via the track that goes to Sassafras Gully Road.

Magdala Creek was very pleasant after recent rain and a fair amount of fungi was out and also some slime moulds. I was surprised to see some trumpet fungi out – along one of the drier sections of the track.

When I arrived at Glenbrook Creek, I continued up to the big pool at the junction with Sassafras Gully Creek. Here I stopped for a short swim and lunch.

Then I continued upstream. This section always seems good for fungi, up to and just past the turn off for the Victory Track to Faulconbridge.

From the trackhead at Sassafras Gully Road it takes 15 minutes to walk back to Springwood Station.

More photos, with my attempts at identification are online here.
