It was the weekend of the Sydney University Bushwalker’s annual walk to a campsite on the Coxs River. The walk is to a pleasant spot and its also great social occasion – good to catch up with fellow bushwalkers – both new and old in the club.
I travelled up with Roger, and he drove down Megalong and parked at the Six Foot Track carpark. We were soon on the track, heading down to the River.
We were soon at the campsite. With all the recent rain, the grass was a bit overgrown, but the floods had also washed down a lot of driftwood – making finding firewood a lot easier.
Compared to other years, it was quite cold. Both the air temperature and the water temperature in the River. So for the first time I did not go in for a swim. Other did however.
It was pleasant to wander along the river photographing the rapids and the water sculptured granite.
We had a pleasant evening around the campfire.
On Sunday morning, I took a few more river photos.
And after lunch, we started to walk out.
Some of us stopped off at Blackheath for a bag of chips and sone refreshments. Thanks to Ashley for organising the walk, and to Roger for a lift up and back.
