Looking for Fungi at Ferndale Park – 13 February 2023

I thought there may be some fungi out at Ferndale Park at Chatswood – as the area had some recent good falls of rain. But the trip turned out to be a waste of time from the fungi point of view.

I did see some old bracket fungi, but the only fresh fungi I could find was the Cyptotrama asprata shown above.

I continued down the valley, looking to see if a Powerful Owl was about. I only spotted a resting Brush Turkey

Further down the valley, I was surprised to see the Chatswood Golf Course was abandoned. Most of the fairways were overgrown, and there seemed to be a massive building development taking place.

I then followed the track along the Lane Cove River downstream. I continued as far as the Osprey nest in the sporting field near Epping Road. I could see no signs of any Ospreys.
