Greenway Bird Survey – 25 March 2023

I took part in the early morning bird survey along the Waratah Mills section of The Greenway. The group meets on the fourth Saturday of the month at 7:30 am on the east side of Waratah Mills Light Rail Station.

Leaden Flycatcher

While the group was forming, we were being serenaded by the call of a Grey Butcherbird

Along the way, we spotted a lot of New Holland Honeyeaters

Willie Wagtail

Red Wattlebird

Rainbow Lorikeet

Red Wattlebird

Grey Butcherbird

Australian Raven

This Australian White Ibis seems to have collected some nesting material –

The highlight of the survey was spotting this Leaden Flycatcher, a rare bird in the Inner West of Sydney.

I think the last one we had observed was in September 2020.

Laughing Kookaburra

New Holland Honeyeater

Red-whiskered Bulbul

As usual,  the group finished off with coffee and a chat in nearby cafe.
