After seeing the great fungi at Bola Creek the day before, I thought it worth having a look along Wolli Creek. I went to Earlwood and set off from Girrahween Park, first walking upstream a bit beyond Paperbark Creek. I then went downstream to the a short way beyond the climbing area before walking back to Girrahween Park. What I spotted was encouraging.
I didn’t find a real lot of fungi, but I did at least find some interesting fungi. And it looked like more was emerging.
I found a lot of Coprinellus disseminatus –
Upstream, I found this polypore growing on the ground –
And I found some red waxcaps. Hygrocybe sp. –
Downstream, east of Girrahween Park I spotted a lot of these waxcaps – Cuphophyllus austropratensis (what used to be called Hygrocybe austropratensis) –
And – Perhaps Omphalotus nidiformis –
Russula lenkunya
Perhaps Clavulinopsis amoena
Omphalotus nidiformis
Lycoperdon sp.
Inocybe sp.
Gliophorus graminicolor
Unknown species –
Clavulinopsis amoena
Old) Gloioxanthomyces chromolimoneus
I am not sure what this one is. I had originally thought it may have been Phellodon niger. Perhaps it is Stereopsis hiscens –
Cuphophyllus austropratensis
A good start. Another trip is on the cards.
