More Sassafras Gully Fungi (Magdala Creek) – 22 May 2023

I was on my way to Hazelbrook to visit my sister and brother in law. And my other sister was also staying there on a short visit from Tasmania. On the way up the mountains, I decided to break my journey at Springwood and spend two hours visiting Magdala Creek. I found some good fungi out – but it was starting to dry out.

Here is some of what I found –

Hygrocybe reesiae

In the upper part of the gully, I found hundreds of Hygrocybe reesiae.

Gliophorus graminicolor

Hygrocybe sp.

Polypore

Cortinarius clelandii

Hygrocybe aurantiopallens

A weeping polypore. Perhaps Postia sp.

An old Slime Mould

Hypholoma sp.

Clavulinopsis corallinorosacea

While walking out I found two species of orchid growing in the same place –

Helmet Orchid (Corybas sp.)

Acianthus sp. Orchid

Hygrocybe sp.

And this Clavulinopsis fusiformis is drying up –
