Sue joined me for a great day out on Malabar Headland. We went to see Peregrine Falcons and whales. we were not disappointed.
Sue’s bus was running late, so I planned to meet her on Magic Point. The sandstone was magnificent.
I then spotted the male Peregrine Falcon perched on the top of a nearby cliff.
And a passing Humpback Whale –
Sue joined me before the Peregrine Falcon took off.
We watched the Peregrine fly a long way away. We prepared to continue out towards Boora Point, but then the Peregrine returned to the same spot. So we watched it again.
It seemed happy for us to be not too far away, perhaps about 8m. We wondered if it recognised us from previous seasons and knew were no threat.
Another take off and again it returned.
Then I missed the next take off. Here the Peregrine is flying past Boora Head –
But again it returned to the same spot on the clifftop.
And another take-off sequence –
This time it met up with the female Peregrine Falcon –
Some more whales –
We left the park early, as forecast rain was about to hit. On the way out, we spotted a Nankeen Kestrel –
