I took part in the fungi field study at the Waterfall Reserve at Mt Wilson conducted by the Sydney Fungal Studies Group Inc. Despite very dry conditions, we found some interesting fungi.
Most of the fungi we did find was on moist logs. The ground was very dry and despite a lot of looking we found very little fungi growing in soil.
Here is some of what we found –
Antrodiella zonata
Panellus pusillus
Galerina sp.
Nobody was sure what this one was –
Bactridium flavum
We found a lot of these cups growing on logs. Peziza repanda (or P versiculosa?)
Slime mould– Stemonitis sp.
We also found a lot of Scutellinia scutellata –
Hericium coralloides
Another older and flattened Peziza repanda –
Scutellinia scutellata
Peziza repanda and Scutellinia scutellata
Scutellinia scutellata
These tiny “tack” shape fungi were growing on a leaf.
Puffballs – Perhaps Lycoperdon pyriforme –
Drechmeria gunnii
Antrodiella zonata
And this beautiful pink cup fungus was found. Perhaps Jafnea sp. or Peziza sp.
Many thanks to Trevor and Kerry Millichamp for a lift up and back.
