Back to the Brown Goshawks at Rookwood Necropolis – 6 December 2023

I made another trip to Rookwood, to photograph the Brown Goshawk family. I was hoping the newly fledged chicks would be more active, and hopefully get some flight shots, or shots of the parents bringing in food.

I had no trouble spotting the juvenile Brown Goshawks and at least one of their parents. They would often call out, and that made it much easier to locate them.

I first spotted an adult –

And then one of the juveniles –

And a second juvenile –

I am not sure if this is the second parent, or if the first one had moved to a new spot.

A White-plumed Honeyeater was trying to encourage one of the chicks to move –

I was hoping for some flight shots. Here is an adult –

The juveniles did some flying, but it was very hard to get flight shots.

Here are two of the three juveniles –

While the young birds are close to their nest, it is probably worth a few more visits.
