SUBW Coxs River Xmas Walk 16 – 17 December 2023

As usual, I joined the annual Sydney University Bushwalkers Walk to the Coxs River. This walk has been held in mid December for many years.

I travelled up the Mountains to Megalong with Roger, an old friend, and we were soon walking down the Six Foot Track.

We were the first down at the campsite on the Coxs River. But we did not have log to wait for the other to turn up. Our campsite was on a beautiful grassy flat a bit above the river.

The Coxs River was flowing quite well, but probably a bit lower than average.

We spent a fair bit of time swimming.

I like to spend a bit of time wandering around the sculptured granite with my camera.

With a total fire ban, we could not light a fire, or even use stoves.

We enjoyed a clear starry night –

Next morning, with the fire band lifted, the fire was lit.

Most people walked out around the middle of the day. It had been a pleasant and enjoyable weekend.

Many thanks to Roger for a lift up and back, and to Ashley for organising the walk.
