I joined Sue and Valerie for a very pleasant day at Taronga Zoo.
On my last visit, with Sue, we had spent a fair bit of time in the new nocturnal house. Valerie had not yet seen it, so that was one place we wanted to make sure we visited. So, when we arrived, we walked down to it via the Australian section.
It was a hot day, and a lot of the animals were sitting in the shade – like this Wallaby –
The Koalas seemed to be dozing –
Here are some of the animals in the Nocturnal House –
Hopping Mouse
The Ghost Bats are interesting, and hard to photograph in the very low light –
Spotted Quoll
Bilby
Yellow-belied Greater Glider
Potoroo
This is the Long-beaked Echidna from New Guinea –
Platypus
Back into the outside, a Turtle –
Then we went to the Blue Mountains Bushwalk. Here is a Regent Honeyeater –
I am not sure what this bird is –
Budgerigar
Cunningham’s Skink
Rock Wallaby
And in the lower aviary – a Rainbow Bee-Eater –
The Diamond Firetails were courting –
Then we stopped to eat lunch. A Brush Turkey wanted to join us –
We next visited the Tigers.
Next, we went to the Rainforest Aviary –
Then to the François’ langurs –
And the Binturongs
Last – a Fairy Penguin –
Many thanks to Sue and Valerie for great company during the day.
