Mudlarks Bird Survey – 13 February 2024

I joined the Mudlarks for their monthly bird survey along the Cooks River. This month the survey was the downstream loop.

While the group was assembling on the Lang St Bride a large flock of Little Corellas flew past –

And a Masked Lapwing

We then crossed Wardell Road. More Little Corellas

An Australian Raven

One of the group, Chris, pointed out that there was a single Long-billed Corella amongst the Little Corellas –

On the Cooks River mudflats – an Australian White Ibis

And perched nearby, a White-faced Heron

A bit further along, in there park – a female Pacific Koel

Wille Wagtail

Australasian Figbird

FRom the footbridge going across to the golf course clubhouse, we spotted a Striated Heron

The Dibble Avenue Waterhole was fairly quiet. Here is a Pacific Black Duck

And in the golf course – a Crested Pigeon.

The Mudlarks group has been undertaking surveys along the Cooks River for five years now, and we had a very nice morning tea at Ewen Park to celebrate this after the survey was completed.
