I was on one of my regular mid week canyon trips with Bob. On the way up the mountains we picked up Tom and then considered options. It had been quite wet the day before and it was raining lightly at the time. So we chose a seldom visited canyon with a small catchment.
On the walk out to the canyon, we spotted quite a few nice orchids – a leek orchid and a large cluster of spectacular horned orchids. Nice!
Then we set off down the canyon. It was short and easy and after 4 or 5 abseils we were through. We had been able to avoid all the deep pools and swims despite it having warmed up and fined up to a sunny day.
After the canyon we climbed out and had a picnic lunch at a suitable spot with great views of a cliff lined valley and then set off back to the car.
On the way back, more orchids were spotted.
