I had seen a photo posted on Facebook of a green waxcap taken at Ferndale Park a few days before. I decided to make a visit to see if I could spot any. I travelled to Chatswood by bus, 2 trains and then another bus (yes, there was track work), and then walked down to the park on Swaines Creek.
There was not that much fungi out along the creek. Here is some that I spotted as I walked downstream.
Clavulina cristata
Russula rosea
Bolete
Russula sp.
Cortinarius sp.
Boletellus sp.
Omphalotus nidiformis
Perhaps Inocybe sp.?
Hymenotorrendiella eucalypti
Unknown –
It took a lot of careful looking, and I eventually spotted the green waxcaps I had been after. They are small and hard to see in the leaf litter. I found these two first –
Humidicutis sp.
And about 1 m away, a single second one –
These are the green waxcaps that change to pink if conditions are right.
Cyptotrama asprata
Russula sp.
Marasmus sp.
I found these Coprinellus disseminatus growing on the stone steps as I started walking out of the park.
After lunch, I made a visit to Blue Gum Creek Reserve. I found very little fungi out.
This is perhaps an Inocybe sp.
