This was another nice day of canyoning in the Blue Mountains with Bob. It was sure nice to be down a canyon on a hot summers day.
We started off abseiling into a scrubby gully and found ourselves in a beautiful ferny glade. Some more steep descending brought us to another abseil off a chockstone into a great section of canyon.
Then, after a cool swim, we were able to climb out and we made our way into the headwaters of another creek and some more abseils.
After three short abseils, we reached a large valley and then climbed back out to a track and walked back to Bob’s car.

Hi David,
I was considering taking my boys for a lilo trip on the Wollangamble this weekend but are still concerned about the coal spill from last year, can you update on the condition of the river please.
A lot of the coal fines have been removed by the contractors. Others no doubt still remain – but probably worst well upstream of the main canyon sections near Mt Wilson. However, recent rain may have moved some of the pollution downstream. But probably still OK to visit the canyons near Mt Wilson.
