Lane Cove River and Terrys Creek Fungi – 19 May 2024

One of the areas that I like to regularly visit to look for fungi is the Lane Cove River Valley. It had been a while since I had visited the upper section of the river, so I decided to do a walk from Thornleigh Oval to Browns Waterhole, then exit via Terrys Creek. The fungi was not as abundant asI had been hoping for, but with a large area covered, I did find a fair amount.

My first stop to photograph, was at the bottom of Lorna Pass. Just before the track crosses the creek, I found a number of coral species and some green waxcaps.

Gliophorus graminicolor

Clavulinopsis sulcata

Ramaria sp.

Geoglossum sp.

Phaeoclavulina abietina

Phaeoclavulina abietina and Clavulinopsis sulcata

Now, lower down the river.

Ramaria xanthosperma var.australiana

Clavaria fragilis

At Browns Waterhole, I checked an area about 20 minutes walk downstream. I was looking for certain species – but I found no sign of them. So I headed back and had lunch before heading up Terrys Creek.
