Ferndale Park Fungi – 18 May 2024

I attended the field study of the Sydney Fungal Studies Group held at Ferndale Park at Chatswood. I was joined by 19 other keen fungi enthusiasts and we found a good diversity of interesting fungi.

Here is some of the fungi that we found –

Clavaria pusio

Leucocoprinus lacrymans

Clavulina cinerea

Pseudohydnum gelatinosum

Stereopsis hiscens

Cantherellus concinnus

Rickenella fibula

Hygrocybe aurantipes

Coprinellus disseminatus

Clavaria zollingeri

Microglossum viride

Cortinarius rotundisporus and Cortinarius austrovenetus

Humidicutis sp.

Clavulinopsis amoena

Hygrocybe sp.

Aseroë rubra

In one area there was a huge number of Russula rosea. Here are two –

I think these are Hygrocybe erythrocrenata

Probably Hygrocybe griseoramosa

Some of there group searching out fungi –

we found this strange fungus on a log. Perhaps Daldinia grandis or similar?

And a nice Red Triangle Slug

It had been a very worthwhile and interesting field study. Thanks to all who came along and helped find all the fungi.
