After doing a few chores this morning, I decided a local walk would be good. So I caught a bus to Bexley North and then set off down the Two Valleys Track – along Wolli Creek. I then continued up the Cooks River and walked home.
I carried a camera with macros lens and tripod to photograph fungi – but ended up not using it. Despite a little bit of recent rain, it was not enough for new fungi to emerge. Luckily I also carried my bird camera with a moderate telephoto lens. Continue reading
After the Greenway Bird Survey, I joined Valerie, who had also been on the survey on an excursion to the Blackbutt Track at H V Evatt Park and later Oatley Park. On the way, we picked up Sue.

After two great days of whale watching, Sue suggested a walk along the cliffs of the eastern suburbs. We started at Vaucluse, with a visit to the Grumpy Baker, then around the corner, at Christison Park, before we got to the cliffs, a Nankeen Kestrel flew in and kept us entertained for an hour or so.
The Kestrel flew in and settled on a nearby roof. Continue reading
I joined Brian Everingham and party, on an activity of the National Parks Association of NSW on a walk in Royal National Park from Wattamolla, along the Coastal Track to Little Marley Beach and back.
On the walk were Brian, Valerie, Paul, Lynn, Carolyn, Marnie, Jane, Gary, Ken, Suzanne, Derek, Cheryl, Deo, and myself. But on this walk, things did not go as planned. Gary was not happy with the first creek crossing and turned back, and he then spent a few hours at Providential Point. And at the first coastal cliffs we encountered, Jane, slipped on wet rock and fractured her wrist. She was able to walk back to Wattamolla, accompanied by Valerie, and was later picked up by her partner. I hope she makes a quick and full recovery. Continue reading

After the fungal survey at Wolli Creek Regional Park, I walked home in the afternoon, via the Two Valleys Track – down the Wolli Creek and then up the Cooks River to as far as Illawarra Road.
On the final survey, I had seen and heard quite a few birds, but by afternoon they all seemed quiet. Here is a Grey-headed Flying Fox –
