Tempe and Cooks River Birds – 10 August 2024

I joined the Tempe Birdos for their monthly survey. This month I was in the group surveying the wetlands. It was reasonably quiet with not that many birds seen.

The highlight was perhaps spotting this Australasian Grebe in one of the ponds.

Here are some of the other birds we saw –

Pacific Black Duck

Dusky Moorhen

Magpie

Grey Butcherbird

We also saw some Superb Fairy-wrens but I was not able to get any good photos. We also heard quite a few Spotted Pardalotes calling.

On the way to morning tea in Tempe Reserve, we saw this Australasian Darter

After morning tea, I went for a walk upstream along the Cooks River. And here are some more birds –

White-faced Heron

Striated Heron

Sacred Kingfisher

It had been a very pleasant morning.
