The Pacific Baza at Sydney Park – 20 August 2024

The Pacific Baza at Sydney Park continues to provide great photographic opportunities. At present it confines itself to the Park, so is not too hard to find. Especially with the pandemonium of the resident Noisy Miners trying their best to move it on.

Here is a selection of photos –

Here, the Baza is being dive bombed by Noisy Miners and a Butcherbird.

The Baza decides to leave.

But not before the Grey Butcherbird gets in a parting shot.

The Pacific Baza finds a safe place to perch.

It then grabs a small leaf insect to eat.

After eating the Baza always cleans its bill.

It seem to now have a leaf.

The Baza upwards the leaf to pull out another insect.

And then more bill cleaning –

This flight out in an open patch fires up an angry Currawong.

The Baza tries to evade the Currawong.

But it has not succeeded in shaking off the Currawong.

A bit later, has it now shake off the Currawong?

No.

I had only spent about an hour at Sydney Park, but it had been an hour packed with action.
