After the protest at Baird’s Office at Manly, Wendy and myself had lunch at Manly Beach and then Wendy had to head off to work. I had the afternoon free, so I started walking north along the Coastal Walkway.
I walked along Manly Beach. There was a lot of surfers out and about enjoying the waves.
I then climbed over a headland to Queenscliff, along that beach and up onto another headland and then along a very good coastal boardwalk before descending again to another beach – Curl Curl.
North of Curl Curl Beach, I climbed up onto Dee Why Headland. There are quite large cliffs here and a warning not to jump off. A few memorials nearby seemed to indicate that some people had jumped – perhaps suicides?
Then I followed a good bush track along to the rock pool at Dee Why. This track is in a narrow strip of bush between houses and the cliffline.
At Dee Why, I stopped and had a swim in the rock pool. The water was a very pleasant temperature and the pool was not too crowded.
It was a very hot day, and I was not keen to continue north along some very sun exposed beaches so I walked along the shared walkway/cycleway to Pittwater Road where I caught a bus back to Sydney.
