Mudlarks – Cooks River Birds Survey – 10 December 2024

It was time for the bird survey along the Cooks River with the Mudlarks. This month the survey was downstream – on the Wave Rock Circuit.

Here are some of the birds we saw –

Channel-billed Cuckoos

Welcome Swallow

Long-billed Corella

Australasian Figbirds

Rainbow Lorikeet

Magpies

Welcome Swallows

Tawny Frogmouth – still on a nest –

Here is a young Grey Butcherbird calling out for food.

And then we found the mate of the Tawny Frogmouth that was sitting on the nest.

And back to the nest –

We finished back at Ewen Park with a great Xmas morning tea.

After that, I walked upstream with Valerie to see if we could spot more Tawny Frogmouths.

The Tawny Frogmouth at Ewen Park is still sitting on its nest –

And, nearby, we spotted the second of the pair –

Grey Butcherbird

Great Egret

Channel-billed Cuckoo
