Birds at Nurragingy Reserve – 10 January 2025

It had been a while since I had visited Nurragingy Reserve at Doonside, so I caught a train to Doonside and then walked into the Reserve. It was warm day, and there was a forecast for rain.

Due to the likelihood of rain, I decided to make sure I did the walk along the perimeter fire trail fairly early on.

But I spotted some birds first –

Royal Spoonbill

Sacred Kingfisher

Turtle

On the perimeter fire trail, I expected quite a f ew birds, but it was relatively quiet.

Yellow-faced Honeyeater

Bell Miner

Grey Butcherbird

Now back at the ponds. A big storm was approaching. I quickly made my way to shelter at the coffee-cart.

The storm last about 30 minutes.

White-faced Heron

Sacred Kingfisher

Superb Fairy-wren

Sacred Kingfisher

Brush Turkey

Water Dragon

Pacific Baza – juvenile

Australasian Darter

These Australian Ravens were having a contretemps –

Sacred Kingfishers

Great Egret
