Birds at Sydney Park – 29 January 2025

Sue joined me for a morning visit to Sydney Park to see what birds were around.  When we arrived, we first looked in for Tawny Frogmouths in the spots where we had seen them before. But this visit, we had no luck.

Here are some birds we did see in the Park –

Australasian Darter

Crested Pigeon

Australasian Swamphen

Australasian Darters

On the cricket ground, we spotted about 60 Galahs feeding on the grass.

Some of them were having fun, swinging on the rope of the covered pitch.

Most were busy feeding –

These were having a huddle –

But it was the ones on the rope that attracted our attention –

Walking back, in the hinterland of the Island Pond, we were lucky to spot, very briefly, a Buff-banded Rail

And to finish, some Little Black Cormorants
