It was time to visit Birdwood Gully at Springwood again to see how the fungi was going. Sue and Valerie joined me for the day.

We didn’t find too much fungi, but we did find some interesting ones. Here is a selection of photos –
Hygrocybe sp.

Cuphophyllus aurantiopallens

Ramariopsis kunzei

Porpolomopsis lewelliniae

Hygrocybe batesii

Gliophorus graminicolor

Cuphophyllus austropratensis

I found these interesting waxcaps in a dark, moist nook. I have no idea what they are. Hygrocybe sp. –

Hygrocybe anomala

This small solitary waxcap was the find of the day. Hygrocybe roseoflavida –

Hygrocybe sp.

Hypholoma sp.

Russula sp.

I am not sure what this huge mushroom is –

Helotium terrestre

Phlebopus marginatus

We had seen signs of a Powerful Owl – “whitewash” on the leaf litter in several places. So we had looked up to see if we could see one roosting. We were lucky to spot a Powerful Owl – with prey (Ring-tailed Possum). I was very high in a tree.

We also saw a number of orchids.
Cobra Greenhood Orchid – Pterostylis grandiflora

Pixie Cap Orchid – Acianthus fornicatus

Nodding Greenhood Orchid – Pterostylis nutans

Helmet Orchid – Corybas sp.
