More Cooks River Birds – 5 August 2025

I returned to the Cooks River – between Illawarra Road and Gough Whitlam Park to continue with the bird photography from the previous afternoon.

When I walked down, I did not see any Sacred Kingfishers in their usual perches.

Here are some Little Black Cormorants

White-faced Heron

Little Pied Cormorant

Ay Gough Whitlam Park, I soon spotted the Tawny Frogmouths

I then headed back upstream. The White-faced Heron was still on the same perch, one that is also favoured by the Sacred Kingfishers.

As soon as the Heron flew off, a Sacred Kingfisher arrived.

Noisy Miner

The Sacred Kingfisher had caught a mud crab –

I was waiting for the Kingfisher to take off, and unfortunately when it did, it took off away from me.
