Valerie travelled up to the Northern Beaches with me, eager to see some Peregrine Falcon action that I had been talking to her about. But it turned out to be a very quiet day as far as the Peregrines went – we only spotted a juvenile sleeping on aa ledge as we walked out.
At the start of the walk along the cliffs, I spotted an Osprey flying past with a fish –

And nearby were pair of White-faced Herons –

We set up to wait at the usual place we see Peregrine Falcons. After a while we spotted this Magpie flying out at speed –

It joined in the with a group of birds trying to see off an Osprey –

And laster, a Nankeen Kestrel was hunting nearby –

And it was not until we left that we saw a sleeping juvenile Peregrine Falcon on a distant ledge –

Some other bird photographers that we encountered explained that one of the adult Peregrines had crashed into a window of a nearby house and had been taken into care by Wires. But had that bird been released back to the cliffs? No one seemed sure.
