The previous day had been very warm, but the Sunday forecast was much better, and the tide was going to be high – good for photographing Osprey diving for fish at Long Reef.
I had quite a good day on the Headland.
Soon after I arrived, three Ospreys appeared.
One started hunting.
Then two of them had what I think was a courtship flight.
Then back to some fishing –
The Osprey spots a fish and starts to dive –
No luck.
Osprey and Nankeen Kestrel –
More fishing –
The Osprey pulled out before hitting the water.
Now the Nankeen Kestrel was hunting –
Back to an Osprey –
No fish.
It tried again –
This time success.
But the fish is heavy and the Osprey hits a wave and falls back into the sea.
It struggles to get to the air again –
It flies to shore with its fish.
Another Osprey starts to fish.
It gets a fish!
Its another big fish, and the Osprey stops for a rest on the beach.
Off it goes –
Two more Osprey – a conflict or courtship?
This one is on the lookout for fish –
I have climbed up a bit onto the headland. The Osprey flies out and looks for fish, often diving and pulling out. To regain altitude, it flies to the headland and uses the uplift to get high again.

I go down to the lower level to photograph the Osprey diving.
It was not successful.
Then a White Belled Sea Eagle arrives.
All the birds on the island take to the air.
The Sea Eagle lands on the island.
Crested Tern
Another White Bellied Sea Eagle appears. This one a juvenile.
I have climbed up to the top again. The Sea Eagle on the island flies over and attracts the attention of some Ravens.
