I spent another day at Long Reef attempting to photograph the local Ospreys. It was a bit frustrating, a fair few Opsreys were present, on and off, for most of the time I was there, but they were not that active, and not very successful in catching fish. But I was able to obtain some reasonable photos of some of the migratory shorebirds.

When I arrived at the lookout, I soon spotted two Ospreys circling around –

I then descended to the lower level. Here is a passing Osprey –

An Osprey was hunting for fish –

But, it pulled out of the dive and wheeled around.

It landed on tree roots –

Another Osprey flew past.

It was then quiet, so I turned my camera to some Welcome Swallows hunting above the sand for insects –

It was by then low tide, but it was quite a high low tide and most of then rock platform was still covered by water. To frame for food, may of the smaller migratory birds ventured to the beach area at the base of the lookout, where I was. I stayed in the one place and was quite still.

Then an Osprey passed overhead. It was being harassed by a Raven.

More passing birds – a Great Cormorant –

And an Australasian Darter

Another Osprey dives to catch a fish –

Like the other one, it pulled out if it’s dive.

Another attempt –

Again, it pulled out.
