I took part in the early morning birds survey along the Hawthorne Canal part of The Greenway.

It was early quiet at Taverners Hill Light Rail Station, where the survey starts.
Here is a Brush Turkey crossing the tracks –

Four Little Black Cormorants flew past –

Here are two (of three) Royal Spoonbills hunting for fish in the canal. There is also a more distant White-faced Heron.

Spoonbills are rare in the Hawthorne Canal.

Superb Fairywren in the Richard Murden Reserve –

We again spotted the Nankeen Night Heron roosting in a Casuarina on the opposite side.
