Fungi at Mt Wilson – 20 June 2026

I attended the field study with the Sydney Fungal Studies Group held at the Waterfall Reserve at Mt Wilson. At present, the Mt Wilson road is closed to visitors due to an instability. We were fortunate to obtain special permission with Blue Mountains Council allowing a limited number of cars from the group to be able to undertake the field study.

Here is some of the fungi found be the group –

Hygrocybe sp.

Hypholoma fasciculare

Armillaria sp.

Hygrocybe sp.

Slime Mould – Lycogala epidendrum

Scutellinia scutellata

Jafnea pallida

Plectania campylospora

Hygrocybe pseudograminicolor

Clavulina sp.

Probably Mycena sp.

Gloioxanthomyces chromolimoneus

Hygrocybe sp.

Hygrocybe pseudograminicolor

Hymenoscyphus sp.

Singerocybe clitocyboides

Cuphophyllus sp.

Ramariopsis ramarioides

Hygrocybe sp.

Ophiocordyceps robertsii

Caterpillar infected with Cordyceps bassiana

Hygrocybe rodwayi and Clavaria sp.

Hygrocybe sp.

These were unusual and quite interesting. Very tiny, growing in the hollow of a log. Probably Mycena sp.

The next two photos are crops showing more detail –

Chlorociboria aeruginascens

Hygrocybe batesii

Cuphophyllus aurantiopallens

Hygrocybe sp.

Ascocoryne sarcoides

Tremella fuciformis

Psilocybe subaeruginosa

Many thanks to Trevor and Kerry Millichamp for a lift up and back, and also to them both and Ray and Elma Kearney with suggestions for identifications.
