Some rain was forecast, but I was keen to get out for a walk. I caught the train to Circular Quay and then jumped on the Manly Ferry. On the way, the weather was looking more ominous, so I changed my original plans for walking to The Spit and instead thought a walk around North Head may be better. This would be a shorter walk with options for shelter in case it rained a lot and also better views of the storm.
Storm clouds did indeed build up on my way to Manly. The lighting was quite impressive. But the rain held off.
I walked from the wharf along the Corso to Manly Beach and then set off along the Coastal Walkway to Shelly Beach, then up tracks to North Head.
As well as impressive views and stormy clouds, there was a magnificent display of wild flowers. North Head is a nice place to walk at the this time of the year.
At Lady Fairfax Lookout, I stopped for more photo taking.
Walking back towards the Barracks, the rain did hit, but it was not too bad. But I did take the quicker tracks and then the road back to Manly.
Then back to the city on the ferry. In the city – I went to Wynyard to see the newly opened pedestrian tunnel connecting the station to Barangaroo. And then after that I walk around the park at Barangaroo.
