This was another nice day spent upon the sea cliffs photographing the family of Peregrine Falcons.

When I arrived, I spotted the adult female flying above.

She later did some fast passes –

Then things went quiet for a while. A Nankeen Kestrel flew past –

Then a juvenile Peregrine Falcon appeared.

A parent had arrived with food. The juvenile flew out -and then a mid air food exchange took place.

The parent dropped the food.

And the juvenile managed to catch it mid air. The parent was watching and would have been able to swoop down and grab the food if the juvenile had missed it.

The juvenile looked quite happy as it flew off with its food.

One of the other juveniles was angry to miss out, and flew at its parent.

The parent then swooped at me. It was obvious that it did not want me around, close to where its chick was feeding.

I moved well away.
But, one of the juvenile was inciting to the parent that it too wanted some food.

The parent flew away.

The two remaining chicks then put on a great flying display – chasing each other and holding mock fights.

One of the juveniles may have been getting tired. It attempted to perch in the pine tree. A bad place to perch as the branches rock around far too much.

The young Peregrine, fell off, but one of its talons caught in the pine frond.

The bird swung around, trying to free itself.

Eventually it got its talon out.

Now, all three chicks were flying –

Another very interesting day!
