Taronga Zoo – Visit on 5 December 2017

Another pleasant day at the Zoo. I had heard about a new baby Chimpanzee – that was something to look out for. But on the day was being able to get some reasonable photos of a playful Platypus in the Blue Mountains section.

The platypus in that section are normally shy and hide from visitors. On my visit there was a Platypus in the large lower pool – and it was active – swimming about and climbing out the sides a bit from time to time. Here are a few of my photos –

Another bonus in the Blue Mountains section was seeing one the rock wallabies with a very young joey.

And a few more photos from the Blue Mountains section –

Now some photos from the bird show –

And I did see the new Chimpanzee baby –

A few general photos –

And I finished off in the Nocturnal House –

The highlight here was seeing the new Long Nosed Echidna. These animals are only found in New Guinea and they are huge compared to the Echidna was see locally.

The Platypus photos are fantastic, I don’t think I’ve seen one captured so well in a captive environment.
