Wattamolla to Little Marley Walk – 18 January 2018

This was a nice walk in Royal National Park organised by Brian Everingham for the National Parks Association of NSW. On the walk were Brian, Esther, Julie, Allen, John, Ken, Erden, Sue and myself.

Crested Tern

We started at Wattamolla where we found a few Water Dragons and spent time watching a White Faced Heron looking for food.

We then set off along the track towards Marley. This is a great part of the park with varied terrain – Dry Sclerophyll forest, then heath, then walking on the cliffs before the descent to Little Marley. There is a lot to see – lizards, wild flowers and birds and then the magnificent views from the cliffs.

The cliffs them selves are also interesting with their shapes and patterns.

We also spotted an area of clifftop covered with small pecked circles. The consensus seemed to be that they were of Aboriginal origin.

More of the cliffs and sea –

We had an early lunch at the shade of Little Marley. There were a number of Silver Gulls on the beach and one Crested Tern. The Tern was a nice photographic subject.

We then reluctantly left Little Marley before if got too hot to walk back.

At Wattamolla the numbers of visitors had increased a fair bit –
