Malabar Headland National Park – 26 August 2018

This was another visit to Malabar Headland National Park. I photographed some of the birdlife and also some of the landscape.

It was on a Sunday, a rare Sunday when the headland part of the park is open to visitors. There were plenty of visitors enjoying the beauty and Nature. On this visit, a lot of the wildflowers were starting to come out – adding a lot of colour.

The National Park is not large in size, but it does contain some majestic scenery – impressive cliffs and intricately carved sandstone formations.

I looked for and found the Peregrine Falcon that I had seen on previous visits. It was quite active this time – and I was able to get some good sequences of it taking off from various ledges.

Here is one take-off sequence –

And here is another –

And later, it took off from a higher ledge –

One of the other raptors on the headland this visit was a Swamp Harrier. It was being harassed by some ravens –

There were also the usual new Holland Honeyeaters in abundance. Many of them hunting for insects –

A few of the Superb Fairy Wren –

This had been a pleasant day out.
