Stacey had organised a trip down Hat Hill Canyon at Blackheath. With her were Asaph, Martin, Pepe, Dave W and myself.
It was a nice warm day in the mountains – bright and sunny. Nice conditions temperature wise – but fairly poor lighting for canyon photography.
We went through the three sections of constriction fairly quickly. In between there were the odd pile of flood debris – logs, bushes and rocks that had to be negotiated. Nothing too difficult.
At the end of the canyon we went down to a nice lookout that provided views of the Grose cliffs. Then we headed back up the creek a short distance and found a nice pass out – via a series of ledges up onto a point overlooking the canyon. It was probably the pass I had used on a much earlier trip – back in the 1970’s.
The ridge walk back was quite hot – and we then had to head to Blackheath for suitable post trip refreshments.
