Birds at Landing Lights Wetland – 27 April 2019

I spent a nice day out at Landing Lights Wetland at Barton Park. I cycled there along the cycleways and arrived mid morning.

Brown Honeyeater

Many of the usual birds were there – Black-winged Stilts and a variety of ducks. At first I could not see any Black-fronted Dotterels. But moving around I spotted four of them. I was lucky to get reasonable shots on one of them in flight.

I also spent some time taking photos of the flying Welcome Swallows.

Here are some of the other birds –

I looked around but could not see any of the Black-shouldered Kites I had seen on my previous visits. But they had been later in the afternoon. So perhaps it was too early?

I went along to the end of Muddy Creek and took some photos of the honeyeaters feeding in the lantana. I was fortunate to photograph a new species for me – a Brown Honeyeater.

For lunch, I cycled out to the fish and chip shop on the foreshore at Botany Bay. Nearby was a sculpture show.
