Fungi Along the Lane Cove Valley – 2 July 2019

Here is a selection of fungi that I found along the Lane Cove Valley – on a walk from Thornleigh to Macquarie Park. I followed the Great North Walk track from Thornleigh Oval as far as the De burghs Bridge, then followed the Riverside Track to Porters Creek, then back up the road to the Lane Cove National Park entrance.

A reasonable amount of fungi was out. In particular there were a lot of Cortinarius out. Here are some –

I only spotted one species of waxcap – several old and rather large Hygrocybe austropratensis

Quite a few corals were out –

One fungus that I seen on two previous trips was an unusual blue coloured spine fungus. I think it is likely to be Hydnellum fraudulentum. On this trip, several months since I last saw it, it was still there, although somewhat older looking –

And some of the other fungi –

There were also quite a few orchids out –

More photos, together with identifications are online here on my website.
